Mangosteen
Our Story
Welcome to Mangosteen, an upcoming tropical Asian-inspired restaurant set to grace the heart of downtown St. Pete at 656 Central Avenue. At Mangosteen, we blend the vibrant flavors of Southeast Asia with a touch of Japanese culinary artistry to create a unique dining experience that's both exotic and comforting.
Led by the visionary Sean Thongsiri, whose journey began as a humble dishwasher at 9 Bangkok Thai on Central Avenue, our restaurant is a culmination of his two-decade-long passion for the culinary world. Having established and managed over ten successful restaurants in Savannah, Sean's recent return to St. Pete marks the birth of Mangosteen. Assisted by the talented Serena Raynard, our establishment promises an unforgettable gastronomic journey.
At the heart of our menu is the revered yakitori, a traditional Japanese grilled meat skewer. Mangosteen will introduce nine delectable varieties, including the classic Chicken Yakitori infused with turmeric and allspice, alongside a standout option - Grilled Calamari Steak Yakitori.
Our dedication to culinary exploration doesn't stop there; with a nod to St. Pete's diverse vegetarian and vegan community, we offer an array of plant-based delights, from fried edamame tacos to Asian-infused salads.
Step into our tropical haven where white-brick walls meet the gentle glow of backlit mirrors, and dark turquoise accents playfully contrast with the exposed ceiling rafters. Lush tropical plants breathe life into the space, harmonizing with a palm-wallpapered wall at the back. As a community-focused establishment, we've carefully curated our offerings to ensure Mangosteen is a place you'll frequent, without straining your wallet. With a full-service bar boasting a thoughtfully curated selection of beverages, including seasonal tropical cocktails and refreshing mocktails, Mangosteen invites you to join us on this delightful culinary expedition.
